Launching our 2017-2020 Reconciliation Action Plan

During National Reconciliation Week Amnesty International will launch our three year Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Reconciliation is intrinsic to Amnesty International; it speaks to the very core of our work championing human rights for everyone. This is our third RAP and our most comprehensive.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn and acknowledge our shared histories, celebrate cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the national reconciliation journey.

The launch of our RAP will be the start of a 3 year journey for Amnesty staff, supporters and stakeholders towards reconciliation. We invite everyone to join us to find out how our RAP will contribute to reconciliation and how you can be part of that journey.

The event will include:

  • A Welcome to Country
  • Our National Director, Claire Mallinson, discussing our RAP and why reconciliation is important to Amnesty and our work
  • Reconciliation Australia's Program Manager, Natasha Jayaratne. Natasha will talk about reconciliation, RAPS - past, present and future
  • The Stiff Gins, the well known Aboriginal band from Marrickville

There will be refreshments served, please RSVP for catering purposes.

We will also acknowledge two significant  anniversaries:

The 50th anniversary of 1967 referendum (27 May) and the 25th anniversary of the Mabo decision (3 June)

We welcome everyone to join us during this week. Reconciliation is everyone's responsibilities - come along to hear how you can be part of this important journey.
