Adelaide Action Centre in Adelaide, Australia

Come and join the Adelaide Meaningful Movies Network for our next free film screening - The Baulkham Hills African Ladies Troupe!

The Baulkham Hills African Ladies Troupe is an inspirational documentary, celebrating the remarkable resilience and spirit of four African Australian women from Eritrea, Kenya, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Entrance is free, plus we'll be supplying the popcorn, so bring your friends and family along!

Hear from incredible activist and community leader Khadija Gbla to introduce the film and share her experiences as a young woman who came to Australia as a refugee herself from Sierra Leone.

You can also take action for refugees and human rights defenders through Amnesty's Brave and Community Sponsorship campaigns on the night!

Check out the film trailer here:

QLD/NNSW Get Active! September 2018

Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 06:30 PM · 5 rsvps
Brisbane Action Centre in Newstead, Australia

Right now, there are people whose human rights aren't upheld. There are people who are persecuted by their government for defending others, there are people who are treated unjustly because of the colour of their skin, and there are people who are held in detention, who should be free.

We want to change that. At Amnesty International, we campaign for a world where everyone enjoys their human rights.

We're a community of people who defend human rights around the world, and at home in Australia.
We work to make meaningful change through campaigning for refugees, calling for action on indigenous children and by supporting individuals at risk.

Come along on Thursday to find out about what the Amnesty community in Brisbane does, and how you can be involved. We'll chat about cool things activists in the region have done, what our campaigns are, and we'll take some actions on our Brave campaign.

If you have any problems, or can't make it this time just let us know!

See you there!
